Live Electronics and DMX Control

The live electronics and DMX lighting components of this performance was created by Cameron MacNair and Tina Krekels.

Max 6 is the real time programming environment that was used to create resynthesis electronics, a spectral shaping system, and a DMX lighting configuration. These systems were controlled in real time by the actions and gestural definitions of the performers.

The resynthesis module is shaped by audio control rates. The source of the control rates are DPA microphones attached to each performer’s hand.

The spectral shaping electronics are a collection of spectral processing VST units. This focus of this system is to provide functionality to interpolate between various parameters at once.

DMX lighting configuration was developed as a dynamic system with high-level functionality. Control over each light utilized a clock system to trigger events on a timeline and audio streams to creatively bias the output.
